Psalm 126, which introduces the Birkat HaMazon, describes the great joy of the exiles, twenty-five hundred years ago, after King Cyrus of Persia gave them permission to return from Babylonia to Judea and build a Holy Temple. Through the ages, this optimistic psalm inspires Jews with hope for God's salvation, ultimate redemption and return to Zion.
